Slain Activist Moreblessing Ali to Finally Receive Dignified Burial

The family of Moreblessing Ali, the slain Citizens Coalition for Change activist, has announced plans to lay her to rest following the release of their lawyer, Job Sikhala, from over one year and eight months of pre-trial detention, family spokesperson Washington Ali has said.

Posting on X, Washington who is Moreblessing’s brother said they are now working on plans to bury their daughter.

“The family has been in communication with the police, and we have had the opportunity to view Moreblessing’s dismembered body. Plans are underway to provide Moreblessing with a dignified burial. Once the dates for the burial are confirmed, you will receive notification,” said Washington Ali.

The Ali family expressed immense relief that their lawyer Job Sikhala regained his freedom and reunited with his loved ones.

“Now that Hon. Job Sikhala, our lawyer, has been released from prison, our family feels immense relief as he reunites with his loved ones. On the day of his release, Hon. Sikhala expressed his sentiments, emphasizing that it is now time to lay Moreblessing Ali to rest,” added Ali.

Moreblessing Ali was abducted on 22 May 2022 with her mutilated body found three weeks later on 11 June 2022.

A Zanu PF activist Pius Jamba was last year sentenced to 30 years in jail for the murder of Ali.
