University of Zimbabwe Student Representative Committee labeled the university vice chancellor “Professor Levy Nyagura as a terrorist after he issued an immediate close down of University of Zimbabwe campus.

Addressing a press conference in the capital, University of Zimbabwe Students Representative Council (S.R.C) president Gift Chiziva said the decision by Professor Nyagura to shut down the campus was tantamount to terrorism.

“The Vice Chancellor has issued a statement for the closure of the campus with no good reasons which is going to affect our studies,” said Chiziva

UZ students were forced out of the campus due to lack of resources to cater for the needs of the students in campus.

Students were only given less than two hours to vacate the institution premises; this was done with the help of Anti-riot police and the campus security personnel.

“It is sad that we have been driven out of campus like criminals, we were only given one hour thirty minutes to vacate the college premises and in the process some of the students lost their gadgets and bags,” said Chiziva.

Chiziva went on to attack the Minister of Higher and Tertiary education Oppah Muchinguri for not creating a dialogue platform to address issues affecting students.

“We have a Minister who cannot even talk to us, let me tell you during the days of Olivia Muchena we communicated with her office” said Chiziva.
