Zimbabwe School Examination Council Board and Management (ZIMSEC) has introduced an online platform where Ordinary level students are able to access their November 2018 examination results without going to their respective centres.
“The ZIMSEC Examination Panel can be accessed from any electronic device that supports the Internet. Results on the Portal are in view only mode, therefore, they cannot be printed,” reads the press statement issued by ZIMSEC.
Zimbabweans have welcomed the initiative with mixed reactions with some noting that it was going to be hard for schools to follow debts from the students who would be owing the school.
Comments flooded the microblogging site Twitter including one from the “Municipal Review” saying “Risky to say the least. An attempt though to be modern but probably not thought through. Makes it harder for school to collect outstanding fees. Such personal information of the candidates is readily available with friends… Confidentiality compromised”.
An educational practitioner Edward Chingoriwo commenting on his Twitter account said, “It’s a great move but with current economic predicament bedevilling our beloved country which has seen most parents paying school fees only during the first term of Form 1, I see disaster yonder. School administrators will have to scratch their heads to run the schools smoothly”
.
A Dzivarasekwa 2 High School Student Tinashe Muzondiwa said he was having challenges with accessing the results from the online platform. At a time of accessing his results, he cites that the platform was sending error messages.
Results on the Portal are however, in view mode, therefore they cannot be printed. The Results Slip which can be collected by the candidates from their respective Examination Centres is the official document for ZIMSEC results.
