Presidential Advisory Council (PAC) member and businessman Shingi Munyeza on Wednesday took the gloves off and hit hard at the government as incompetent and accelerating in the wrong direction instead of stopping to check which direction the country should go.
He is among a group of 26 individuals from business, clergy and other professionals who were appointed into PAC to assist in formulating key economic policies this year.
Munyeza made the startling comments while making a presentation to delegates at the Citizen Manifesto Second National Citizens’ Convention in Harare.
“We think we are dealing with a static matter, it’s an accelerating situation in the wrong direction which needs to be slowed down, stopped so that we can change where we are going,” Munyeza said.
He warned that if citizens did not come together and stop the train, it will soon crash and everyone will be destroyed.
“I am not a sadist or a prophet of doom, but I can tell you the truth, we will crash at some point if we do not deal with this, we are all going to crash and burn,” Munyeza added.
The businessman further stated the crisis in Zimbabwe was a result of the battles between reformers and conservatives and, unfortunately, the conservatives are winning, keeping the nation going in the wrong direction.
“We are at war, it is a war of reformers versus conservatives and let me tell you what is happening, the reformers are losing, and the conservatives are winning that is why the train is still picking speed in the wrong direction,” Munyeza opined.
He further said he doubted the capacity and competence of Zimbabwe leaders, hence urging the citizens should engage in a dialogue to proffer solutions to problems facing the country.
