ZANU PF youths illegally parceling out residential stands in Chitungwiza

by Philemon Jambaya

Violence erupted in Chitungwiza, Manyame Park phase 4 over the weekend between MDC-T and Zanu PF youths over land allocation chaos.
Vicious Zanu PF youths are allocating themselves stands at undesignated areas, which MDC T youths are in disagreement with.

A somber atmosphere is engulfing the Chitungwiza Manyame Park phase 4 because of the fight.

The Zimsentinel reporter on Monday evening witnessed a Zanu PF activist who was identified as BaMhizha pegging stands near the Manyame Park Complex and phase 4 corner shops.

The youths have been told to occupy any open space which is available for them to build their houses, when the ZimSentinel reporter arrived where the youths were giving each other stands on Monday.

When this reporter visited the scene he was greeted with hostility.“Cde do you understand anything about Zanu PF?” queried the militant BaMhizha.

Mhizha went on to give some threats to the reporter,“Since you are not aware of what is happening let me school you, we are giving ourselves stands as per our resolution in our party and we will deal with whosoever goes against it accordingly,” said BaMhizha

The area of Manyame Park is overcrowded to the extent that the sewer pipes are no longer functioning which has put the area on a ticking health time bomb and the stands which are being given to people by Zanu PF, are going to be connected to the malfunctioning sewer pipes.

On Saturday the same youths went to Manyame Park lower density areas were they also pegged stands belonging to other people saying that the stands are too big. They resolved to share the stands, a move which angered some MDC T activists who were seen roaming around the area of Manyame Park with machetes and golf sticks.

Chitungwiza City Council Town clerk George Makunde blasted the youths who are giving each other stands saying it is illegal and the law will take its course to address the issue.

Meanwhile some of the youths who are leading the illegal distribution of land are employed by the Chitungwiza city council.

“I understand that some of our employees are leading the illegal distribution of stands and some are even trying to occupy stands which were bought by other people and let me warn those guys that they are going to face internal disciplinary action,” said Makunde

Notwithstanding the issue of illegal stands repeated in Chitungwiza, authority seems to be folding its hands while chaos reigns supreme making residents suspect that the issue of illegal land allocations has a big hand of powerful politicians in government. Early in the year The Zimsentinel also carried another story on Zanu PF activists who were giving stands to people.

Late last year residents in various housing settlements had their houses demolished by the government after claims that the stands were at undesignated places. It is therefore surprising why government continues to fold its arms when ruling party youths are repeating the same thing.
