A tragic road accident occurred on June 11, 2024, at approximately 1625 hours, along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road, resulting in the loss of seven lives and leaving five others injured.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the accident was caused by a burst tire on a Toyota Quantum vehicle, which caused the vehicle to swerve off the road and collide with a tree. The vehicle was traveling towards Harare at the time of the incident.

The identities of five of the victims have been confirmed by their next of kin:

– Michael Mugandani (36)

– Innocent Nyamukondiwa (37)

– Edith Musorowembudzi (36)

– Dumisani Mutsawa (33)

– Mabhebhe Chingamuka (6)

The remaining two victims are yet to be identified, and the injured are receiving treatment at Murewa District Hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mutoko Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road rules and regulations to prevent such tragic accidents.
