Time bomb as villagers are exposed to unhygienic conditions

The borehole at the center of a possible health risk.

A health time bomb is looming following a discharge of water pollutants at a water point in Buhera. This is a potential health risk as villagers are washing their clothes and later discarding the water at the same point they get it from. It has however resulted in the formation of stagnant waters paving the way for the breeding of mosquitos further implementing danger to people surrounding the borehole area.

“This stagnant water is being consumed by livestock, hens, birds and mentally challenged persons. A slab in a slopping style can be very helpful to this community. The borehole must be fenced, water point committee must be activated together with public health education to keep the environment clean,” said Leonard Mabasa, Buhera Residents Network Trust.

The trust has however taken action by approaching an Environmental Health Worker to reprimand such a disturbing act.
