Peace Group Calls For Decentralization of Gender Commission

By Staff Reporter

In commemoration of the 113th International Women’s Day, Heal Zimbabwe Trust has demanded the adequate funding and decentralisation of the Zimbabwe Gender Commission to ensure it is able to save every woman without limitations.

Embracing the theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,’ the organization underscores the paramount importance of inclusion in addressing economic disempowerment and dismantling structural inequalities hindering gender equality.

In a statement, Heal Zimbabwe called for the decentralisation of the Zimbabwe Gender Commission to ensure that every woman has access to its services.

“The Zimbabwe Gender Commission must be adequately funded and decentralized to every district to ensure access for all so that it lives up to its Constitutional mandate,” said Heal Zimbabwe Trust.

The organization also called for strict enforcement of the law to address all forms of violence against women and girls.

“We call for the strict enforcement of our laws to address all forms of violence, including online violence, against women and girls,” HZT added.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
