St. Petersburg, Russia – Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in St. Petersburg today to attend the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The 27th SPIEF commenced today, June 6, 2024, with a focus on “The Formation of New Areas of Growth as the Cornerstone of a Multipolar World.” The four-day event has attracted delegates from over 139 countries and regions.
President Mnangagwa’s meeting with President Putin aimed to boost mutual growth and cooperation between Zimbabwe and Russia. The two leaders discussed various areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, and economic development.
The forum features a packed business program with four tracks and over 1,000 speakers participating in more than 150 thematic sessions. Delegations from all BRICS countries are participating, with the presidents of Bolivia and other countries expected to join the forum.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to speak at the plenary session on June 7. SPIEF has become a leading platform for global economic discussions since its inception in 1997.
