Mliswa praises work of CSOs

Ousted Zanu PF Hurungwe West provincial chairman Temba Mliswa has vowed not to come back in his former party .

Temba Mliswa was ousted together with several Members of Parliament who were fingered out to be the former Vice President Mujuru loyalists.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Media Centre in Harare, Temba Mliswa who is vying for the Hurungwe West seat on June, 10, said he would not want to be associated with Zanu PF again if there was any chance of readmission.

“I cannot be associated with a party like Zanu PF which creates terror, beating up people and intimidating people to vote for them.
“Such gross human rights atrocities have no place in me and if by any chance I’m readmitted into Zanu PF I will not accept the offer,” said Mliswa.

Over the last month, Mliswa alleges that members of the central intelligence and Zanu PF youths have been beating and victimizing people in the Hurungwe West constituency to intimidate them to vote for the ruling party ahead of the June 10 by -elections.

Mliswa added that when he was in Zanu PF he was blinded to the extent that he could not see what his former party is capable of when they want to be voted into power.

“If you are in Zanu PF you do not see how cruel the party is.” he said.

However Temba Mliswa applauded Civic Society Organisations (CSOs) for their role in educating people in his constituency on human rights.

“I would like to applaud the work of human rights organization such as Election Resource Centre (ERC), Zimrights, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) Heal Zimbabwe and among other organisations that are working tirelessly in informing Hurungwe West people about human rights issues.

“I did not realize that such Non-Governmental Organisations play a pivotal role in Zimbabwe when I was still in Zanu PF,” he said.

Last month several farm workers at Temba Mliswa’s farm where badly injured after Zanu PF youths tried to forcibly evict Mliswa off the farm.
