The Islamic Trust, a Faith based organisation based in Macheke officially opened the state of the art borehole for Garikai residents on Tuesday.
Garikai residents have been experiencing water shortages due to lack of convenient water sources in the area.
The borehole was constructed by the Islamic Trust from Turkey with assistance from the local area committee.
The Area Committee assisted in citing the location of the borehole and providing water for the construction of the borehole.
The official opening was graced by Mr. Muhamad of Islamic Trust, who is responsible for the Ramadan program, the area committee, members of the Macheke Islamic church and Macheke residents.
In his address Mr. Muhamad, cited that they are passionate about providing water to African societies, an initiative that was started by their forefathers.
This organization believes that water is life and this has been evidenced by the official opening of a state of the art borehole in the Garikai location of Macheke on April 20 2021.
A representative of the Area Committee, Mr. Marara thanked the Islamic Trust for such a noble initiative and encouraged Macheke residents to guard the borehole jealously and the locals to practice maximum hygiene.
To date the Islamic Trust has constructed forty four boreholes in Zimbabwe and they are planning to continue with the good initiative.
Recently, the Islamic Trust also officially opened another borehole in Ward 23 at a place called Welfare.
Garikai residents expressed their gratitude to the Islamic Trust and the Islamic church for alleviating their water crisis and asked the donors to construct more boreholes in their community.
