Low turn up on first day of schools re-opening in Bikita

Nyika business center, Bikita.

The re-opening of schools on Monday was marked by a slightly lower turn up of learners in Bikita District. An average of 70 percent of teachers and 60 percent of learners pitched up for lessons today as informed by the district statistics.

A low turn up by teachers could have been caused by transport problems as, against the announcement made by the Minister of Information, intercity commuters have not yet resumed services. The call by Staff Associations that teachers are incapacitated could have caused this significant low turn up by teachers.

The low turn up by learners could be attributed to the conflict obtaining in social media where Teachers Unions have called for incapacitation or it could be that learners were afraid of the 33% fees rise dictated by the government.

However some teachers were attending lessons. A certain quarter of teachers expressed that they were now tired of staying at home hence they wanted to get occupied.
