CHIPINGE – MDC-T supporters of defeated candidates protested today in the streets around 4am in Chipinge West showing their displeasure against Sibonile Nyamuedza who defeated their preferred candidates in the recent MDC Alliance primary elections held on Monday, 21 May 2018.
Amongst the protestors were mai Khiyana, mai Tariro and baba Ben who were chanting, ‘tinoisa sorai zvikaramba, zvikaramba toisa Chimwamurombe, bhora musango’ (if the situation doesn’t change we will vote Chamisa our president and vote for Chimwamurombe as our MP).
The protestors were encouraging people to vote for Nelson Chamisa (MDC Alliance) as president and Chimwamurombe (Zanu PF) as MP.
Oliver Chikumba a defeated candidate bought beer and gave food handouts to his supporters instructing them to protest in the streets and threaten ‘bhora musango’.
The protestors were labeling Nyamuedza as a lazy leader who has done absolutely nothing for the constituency since 2008 when he was elected as constituency MP.
In the latest MDCT primary elections, Chikumba had 155 votes whilst Nyamuedza got 1771 votes, Mutema 108 votes, Chineya 9 votes and Mdaniso Makuyana got 2 votes.
