Is Mazoe Orange Crush Zimbabweans’ All Time Favorite Food Commodity?

Over the years,  the decline of  Zimbabwe’s food commodity manufacturing industry has led to an influx of basic food stuffs from other countries  such as South Africa, Zambia, and Botswana.

Commodities such as cooking oil, sugar salt and soft drinks  have been imported into the country because our own industries could no longer produce enough to cope with the market demand. Even those that were produced in the country have tended to be more expensive or of poorer quality than the imports.

Recently a Twitter conversation that was started by one Christopher Musodza it actually shown that after all people still have nostalgia for local brands, particularly Mazoe Orange Crush.

Christopher Musodza started the discussion by this tweet “What’s your favorite #ProudlyZim product? Mine is Colcom country Style Boerewors.”

Mazoe Orange Crush is one of the leading cordial brands produced by Schweppes Zimbabwe that is jointly owned by the workers and Delta Beverages.

Locally manufactured cereals were not to be left as they also proved that they are among beloved products in the country.

Tom Mabhena and Tino Hondo responded through tweets that Cerevita has become a must of their breakfast meal everyday by nominating it out as the best Zimbabwean product.

Locally made cocktails were not left out in the race as they are proving to be finely brewed to meet international standards.

Castle lager, Zambezi lager and Chibuku Super were the brews that were preferred through tweets to be the best locally produced.

However, the challenge is that Zimbabwean products need to be competitive. Even if some  of them are still winning the hearts of consumers.
