Zimbabwe’s promising gospel musician Janet Manyowa who has received 8 nominations for tomorrow’s ZIMA awards could make history.
Janet Manyowa (30) who made the shot to the top in the airwaves after releasing her hit single Amazing God in 2014 which featured USA based DR Comfort Manyama.
This is a single which put her on the limelight as it became number 2 on Star FM, got into the top 50 on power FM and was number 1 on ZiFM gospel show.
After making news through the popular Amazing God,she decided to do a follow up single Ndomira Kwamuri which then made it into the song of the year list.
The song Ndomira Kwamuri against all odds became a hit on every radio station in Zimbabwe. At some point the song became number 1 eclipsing the popular Disappear by dancehall artist Winky D in Zimbabwe.
At the end of year chats in 2015 the song was number three on ZIFM, number 5 on Gospel Greats Show on Star FM and number 4 on the Power FM top 50, whilst it was number 6 on the online ZIMNET radio.
The Christian musician then decided to come up with an album titled King of Glory in August 2015 which has received 8 nominations of tommorow’s ZIMA awards.
The album has been nominated for the Best Film and Arts, Best Video, Best Collaboration (with Mahendere brothers), Best Album of the year and Best Contemporary Gospel album.
Speaking to this reporter Manyowa said she owes her success to the Almighty God and her husband.
“It’s an exciting thing to get nominations. I am very happy with the recognition of what I am doing in society” she said.
“First of all I owe my success to God. I also owe it to my husband, my parents and my pastors” said the soft spoken Manyowa.
Tremier Msipa and David Sengwayo are the producers for the upcoming musicians whilst Munyaradzi Manyowa her husband is her manager.
Janet’s has performed most of her music at local churches which include at the Women’s Arts Festival, Celebration Centre with the Celebration Choir and at the ZAOGA Live DVD among other respected gospel forums in the country.
