THE Harare Residents’ Trust (HRT) urges residents to keep praying for Zimbabwe, but most importantly, to voice their concerns on the ill-treatment of citizens who dare exercise their freedom to share information in the public interest.

Journalists and human rights defenders serve society. Diversity is the epitome of democracy. The government should not torment its critics using the law. Those arrested, no matter the allegations against them, should not be denied bail on the basis of their perceived political beliefs.
Citizens can only enjoy their freedoms if the freedoms of all people are respected. Without guaranteed freedom, the citizens despair.
The Harare Residents’ Trust urges President Emmerson Mnangagwa not to follow in the footsteps of the late former President Robert Mugabe whose government fought against the principles of freedom and free expression by the citizens.
Therefore, the HRT urges the citizens to speak honestly about their circumstances without fear or favour.
The corrupt in our midst should be fairly and justly prosecuted without persecuting them through the law. The same laws will be applied on the current oppressors who are intolerant of diversity.
