Dokora Must Be Fired: ARTUZ

By Moregiven Sithole

Harare, 9 October 2017

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has castigated the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Dr Lazarus Dokora, accusing him of worsening the crisis in the education sector by imposing policies which are not user friendly.

Addressing members of the media in Harare ARTUZ president, Obert Masaraure described Dokora as an incompetent minister who has failed dismally adding that President Robert Mugabe must fire him in the forthcoming cabinet reshuffle set for this week.

He said, “In addition to the economic, the crisis in the education sector has been exacerbated by an incompetent Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora .With a cabinet reshuffle having been pronounced for this week, the normal expectation from ARTUZ and indeed education fraternity would be that Dokora is part of the deadwood to be shown the exit door.”

Masaraure said Dokora might survive the chop as the cabinet reshuffle has nothing to do with the performance of ministers but a ploy by Mugabe to reward his allies and weaken his political adversaries.

“However, we are fully aware that this is a mere realignment of factions in ZANU PF aimed at rewarding those who have excelled at bootlicking the nonagenarian. It is akin to a devil resetting his devil’s council for purposes of intensifying the suffering ordinary people,” he fumed.

He said Mugabe must leave office and pave way for a transitional authority to initiate economic recovery and democratise the political environment before the 2018 general elections.

He also lambasted the ruling party members for using school premises in their preparation for the next year’s harmonised elections saying that this is a clear violation of Section 81 of the Constitution.

Masaraure said the next year’s polls provide for an opportunity for Zimbabweans to dump ZANU PF in the political dustbin.
