Condomise Team in countrywide campaigns against STIs, unplanned pregnancies

By Erasmus Mabhebhura

A civil society organization, Condomize Team, has embarked on a countrywide awareness campaign targeting youths to practice safe sex and use of contraceptive to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

The campaign is a response to increasing cases of sexual transmitted infections and pregnancies among youths aged between 15 and 25.

Condomize team member Tanya said that the campaign was running in all towns to educate men and empower women to have a say in family planning.

“We are educating people the correct way of and the importance of using condoms, because we have discovered that many people are being infected with sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy. Condoms prevent unplanned pregnancies and STIs, so we want to eradicate the proliferation of STIs.”

The teams said the campaigns were targeting youths in high density suburbs where there are many people.

Condomise Team is working in collaboration with SAYWHAT and the National Aids Council in the project that is funded by UNFPA.
