Let Justice Flow in the new Dispensation: Bishop Magaya

By Yvonne Manjengwa

Harare, 11 January 2018

The Zimbabwe Divine Destiny (ZDD) has urged the current system of government to respect the rule of law and deal with those who are found guilty timeously in accordance with the laws of the country.

Addressing journalists at a press conference held today in Harare, the ZDD leader, Bishop Ancelimo Magaya said it is their fervent belief as the church of God that any nation or any new dispensation that wishes to turn a new leaf should start well by gaining trust through transparency and truth telling.

“It is therefore, incumbent upon the new government to account and openly disclose the whereabouts of every victim of this macabre moment”, said Magaya.

“The recent harassment cum arrest and alleged torture of youth’s activists, who demonstrated on the Gukurahundi issue when President Mnangagwa visited Bulawayo, is the clearest indication that ZANU PF led government still struggles to adhere to constitutionalism”.

He notes that the youths were within their constitutional rights by showing their displeasure at such an occasion and was non-violent.

“President Mnangagwa ought to be reminded that the nation is yearning for a departure from Mugabeism where repression and oppression were the order of the day and this is his litmus test”

Magaya alluded that the church cannot keep quiet as these matters of justice and peace disturb national development.

“How can we move forward when certain families are restless due to their loved one’s disappearances and the likes of Itai Dzamara and others are cases in point”.

“Owning up and telling the truth will help people to deal with the loss leading to forgiveness thereby stopping the rumour mill and will be credited with integrity. Ultimately God will forgive your government as well as our nation”.

Magaya listed an array of demands ought to addressed quickly by the President Mnangagwa such as acknowledgement of the Gukurahundi issue for the nation to move forward, bringing closure to Itai Dzamara’s disappearance and others by ensuring justice, applying the law fairly by arresting even the corrupt beyond G40 ,quick and immediate implementation of the much awaited Electoral Reforms.

“Let us therefore desist from giving excessive flatteries to the politicians when we should hold them to account for acts of injustices”.
